Getting to Antwerp
A) By plane
Brussels International Airport (Zaventem) is 45 km (28 miles) and maximum 1 hour from Antwerp. Most convenient is the Airport Express, the ‘diabolo’-train connection that brings you from the airport to Antwerp Central Station in 34 min. Other options are the Brussels Airport Shuttle, which departs every hour from Brussels Airport and terminates at De Keyserlei street, not far from the University of Antwerp, or several taxi services.
Antwerp Airport (Deurne) is located at 7 km from the city centre. VLM Airlines operates daily flights from London City and Manchester. The city centre can be reached by bus (14) (www.delijn.be) or taxi (t +32 3 238 38 38).
Brussels South Airport (Charleroi) is 120 km from Antwerp. Both Ryanair and Wizz Air operate flights here. The best way to get to Antwerp is to book in advance a seat on the Brussels City Shuttle to Brussels South Station (Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi) (http://www.brussels-city-shuttle.com) and hop a train to Antwerp Central Station.
Frequent trains to Antwerp depart from Brussels South, Central or North. There are three types of train services (in ascending speed order): ‘L’ (slow local stop-train, to be avoided), ‘IR’ (Interregional), and ‘IC’ (Intercity). There are no extra charges for Intercity train services (except for Eurostar and Thalys connections). www.nmbs.be

Antwerp is linked to most European motorways:
The SHARP 2014 Conference takes place at the University of Antwerp.
The City Campus (Kleine Kauwenberg) is located in the centre of the city and only a short walk from the central station. The easiest way to get to SHARP.
When coming out of the central station, walk down the busy 'De Keyserlei' and cross the 'Frankrijklei'. The grand highstreet you're on now is called 'Leysstraat', which when you walk further becomes 'Meir'. Take the 4th street on your right (Lange Klarenstraat) and walk straight down. The street becomes first 'Prinsesstraat', then 'Grote Kauwenberg' and eventually 'Kleine Kauwenberg'. After 10 minutes walking you'll find the conference location (K-Building) on your right.
